



Dr Peter Flanagan came to the Scarborough Animal hospital in 1981, after receiving his DVM from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine.
Peter started his career in the areas of wildlife biology and wildlife management, graduating from the University of Massachusetts with a BS in 1973 and the University of Michigan with a MS in 1977. It was while working on a wildlife project in Minnesota that he became interested in Veterinary medicine. Peter worked with Dr. Lowell Pease for five years before taking over the practice in 1986.
Dr. Flanagan has particular interest in the areas of orthopedics and surgery. His outside interests include hiking the Appalachian Trail, nature photography and Radio Controlled Model Aircraft. Peter lives in Scarborough with his wife Jayne, an assortment of orange tiger cats and a variety of outside wildlife. He has two adult children, Wesley and Sean.
He enjoys being able to work in his practice on the whole range of animal health issues, form general medical to surgery. He particularly enjoys the broad range of procedures rather than a narrow specialty.
Dr. Janice Baserga graduated from Mount Holyoke College with an A.B. in Biology in 1981. She then pursued her childhood goal of becoming a veterinarian, receiving her DVM from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1986.
Janice lives in Cumberland with her husband, who is also a veterinarian, two active teenage boys and six affectionate golden retrievers; Cookie, George, Samantha, Tiki, Emily, and Mick. Her hobbies and interests include: breeding, showing/ training her dogs, crafts with rubber stamps, horseback riding and traveling.
Dr. Baserga’s favorite aspect of her chosen profession is working with pets and their owners.
Dr. Matt Ford lives in Kennebunk with his wife Amy and three year old daughter Ava. He has two dogs, Sammy (Mutt) and Barley (Yellow Lab). The family also includes three house bunnies, Tim, Lola, and Shelby.
Matt graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont with a BA in 1997. He then attended Tufts University School of Veterinary. Medicine graduating with his DMV in 2005.
His hobbies/sports include Skiing, Snowmobiling, Hiking, and Music. Matt also loves basketball and is an avid Celtics fan.
Matt loves his chosen career because of the variety of cases and the medical / surgical abilities he has developed to help his patients. He also enjoys interacting with the many different kinds of animal and the people that love them.
Dr. Catherine Gagner moved back to Maine after graduating from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. She likes to think of herself as a “Mainer once removed”, due to relatives living in the Portland area.
Her interests include preventative medicine and the study of pathology. Catherine also has ties to the Southern Maine region as a 1996 graduate of Saint Joseph’s College.
Catherine particularly enjoys puppy and kitten visits and establishing lifelong care relationships with her patients and owners.
Dr. Gagner’s outside interests include hiking, fly fishing and fly tying. When possible, Catherine’s standard poodle, Dudley, accompanies her. She is a member of Trout Unlimited, Fly Fishers of America and the Audubon Society.
